One of Ireland’s most popular sports stars, Ken Doherty, returns to the TV screens this winter, with his own series – Lucky Break.

As a working class kid Ken fell in with the right crowd, who recognised his talent and nurtured him to become the snooker World Champion in 1997. Now Ken wants to give something back, giving other young players a chance to fulfil a dream, realise their potential and embark on a journey that could change their lives forever.

In this series Ken embarks on a search for Ireland’s next great snooker talent. He holds two open auditions in Dublin and Cork. From the hundreds who turn up on the day, he takes the four best contenders on the journey of a lifetime, including a trip to the World Championships at the Crucible in Sheffield. The person Ken decides is most deserving of the opportunity, will win a year’s scholarship training under Ken plus one thousand euro towards their snooker career.
